Start early from Bangalore. The distance to be covered is about 236 km. The route to Mudumalai National Park passes through NH 275, and it takes around 4.5 hours to reach. Reach Mudumalai by midday, approximately around 12:00 pm. After some relaxation, head out for the most thrilling part of the tour - Mudumalai wildlife safari.
The primary attraction of the day is enjoying a wildlife safari at Mudumalai National Park. By the time you reach Mudumalai, the morning safari timings will be over. You can go for the first slot of the afternoon safari, which is scheduled from 2:00 pm to 3:10 pm. Therefore, conduct Mudumalai online safari booking to secure your safari in advance. The prior booking will save you time on the day of the safari. Directly reach the safari entry gate and produce the permit. You do not need to spend additional time at the safari booking counter for offline tickets.
Mudumalai National Park conducts 2 types of safaris - Jeep and Camper. Depending on your group size, choose the safari vehicle at the time of safari booking. A jeep can accommodate up to 6 people, whereas a maximum of 10 people can get along in a camper safari. Moreover, the camper safari tickets are cheaper than the jeep safari price. Depending on your budget and the number of people travelling, plan our safari accordingly. If you are in a large group, with friends or siblings, the camper safari is a feasible option. If you are just 3-4 people or just a couple, then book a jeep to enjoy the wildlife of Mudumalai without any disturbance.
After your jeep or camper safari, head towards the elephant feeling camp, that is the Theppakadu Elephant Camp. This is a bonus activity at Mudumalai National Park. The Theppakadu Elephant Camp, located inside Mudumalai National Park in Tamil Nadu, is one of the oldest elephant camps in India, established in 1910. It lies within the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and is well known for its ecological and tourism importance. The camp provides shelter to trained elephants, including those that are rescued, old, or injured. These elephants are actively involved in forest patrol, anti-poaching work, and help maintain balance between humans and wildlife in the region.
Visitors come here to watch daily activities like feeding and bathing the elephants. The close interaction between the elephants and their mahouts offers a unique glimpse into their strong and long-standing relationship.
Return to Bangalore after 6:00 pm, you will reach by 11:00 pm. Visiting the Elephant Feeding Camp in Theppakady is completely optional. If you do not choose to return to Bangalore late, then you can skip this and return after the Mudumalai safari.
